What this notice covers

This notice explains what information the Cherrywood Auto website collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It covers this website only. Information you give us in person or by phone is handled under the same principles but is not described here.

Cherrywood Auto is a used-vehicle dealership and automotive service center at 1386 Wantagh Ave, Wantagh, New York.

Information collected

When you submit a contact form, a car finder request, or a service request, we receive what you choose to enter. That typically means your name, phone number, an email address if you provide one, and the details of your question, such as a vehicle you are interested in or a symptom you have noticed.

You do not need to give us more than is necessary to answer your question. Please do not send a Social Security number, a driver license number, financial account details, or any other sensitive identifier through a website form. If information like that is needed for a credit application, it is collected through a secure process rather than a web form.

Like most websites, the server that delivers these pages may record standard technical information such as the requesting IP address, the browser and device type, the page requested, and the time of the request. This is used to keep the site working and secure. Analytics is described separately below.

How information is used

Information you submit is used to respond to you: to answer a question, confirm whether a vehicle is available, arrange a service appointment, or prepare for an appraisal or a purchase conversation.

We do not sell information collected through this website. We do not use it to build advertising profiles about you on this site.

When information is shared

Information may be shared with service providers who help operate the business, and only to the extent needed to do that work. Today that means the company that hosts this website and Google, which processes the analytics described below on our behalf. We do not sell information collected through this website and we do not share it with data brokers.

If you choose to proceed with a purchase involving financing, information you provide for that purpose may be shared with lenders you authorize, and with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for title and registration. That is a separate process from this website, and it is explained to you at the time.

Information may also be disclosed where the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: which pages people read, how they arrived, roughly where in the world they are, and what device and browser they use. It tells us that a vehicle page was viewed two hundred times. It does not tell us who viewed it.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to recognize a returning visit and collects your IP address, which we have configured to be truncated before it is stored. We have also switched off Google Signals and advertising personalization, which means the data is not combined into a cross-device advertising profile and is not used to target ads to you.

Google acts as our data processor for this and holds the data on our behalf. Google publishes its own description of how it handles Analytics data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

No advertising or remarketing pixels run on this site. There is no Meta Pixel, no Google Ads conversion tag, and no third-party advertising network. If that changes, this notice will be updated in the same deployment that adds them.

Turning analytics off

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, this site does not load Google Analytics at all. No cookie is set and no data is sent. Several browsers send Global Privacy Control by default and others offer it as a setting.

You can also install Google’s official Analytics opt-out browser add-on, block cookies for this site in your browser settings, or clear the cookies this site has already set. Blocking analytics has no effect on how the site works; every page and every feature behaves identically.

The saved vehicles list is not analytics and is not sent anywhere. It is stored only in your own browser using local storage, it is never transmitted to us, and clearing your browser data removes it. Nothing is shared with us until you choose to send the list through the contact form.

How long information is kept

Enquiries are kept only as long as needed to respond to them and to keep a reasonable record of the conversation. Records connected to a vehicle sale or a repair are kept for the periods that New York law and ordinary business practice require. Google Analytics data is retained on Google’s servers under the retention period set in our Analytics property, after which it is deleted automatically.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to stop contacting you. Call the dealership or use the contact form and say what you would like. You do not need to give a reason and it costs nothing to ask.

If you would rather not submit anything through this website at all, calling is always an option and no information is collected by doing so beyond what you choose to tell us.

Children

This website is intended for adults purchasing or servicing a vehicle. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated as the site or the business changes. The date below shows when it was last revised.
