What we have built in, what we know is still imperfect, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

Our commitment

Cherrywood Auto wants this website to be usable by everyone, including people who navigate with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, or reduced motion settings. Buying and servicing a car is stressful enough without an inaccessible website adding to it.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is a target rather than a certification, and if something on this site does not work for you, we would like to know.

What is built into this site

The pages are built with semantic HTML, so headings describe the real structure of the page and landmarks such as the header, navigation, main content, and footer are announced correctly by assistive technology.

A skip link at the top of every page that jumps straight to the main content
Visible focus outlines on every interactive element, so keyboard users can always see where they are
Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, and decorative graphics hidden from screen readers
Form fields with real labels rather than placeholder text acting as a label
Text that reflows without horizontal scrolling down to a 320 pixel viewport width
Wide tables placed in a scrollable region that can be reached and moved with a keyboard
Color combinations chosen to meet contrast requirements for body text and interface elements
Respect for the operating system reduced-motion preference, which turns off entrance animations
Accordions and disclosure widgets built on native HTML elements, so they work without JavaScript
A single H1 per page, with heading levels that descend without skipping

Known limitations

The stylized map illustration on the directions page is decorative and is hidden from assistive technology. The address, cross street, written directions from nearby communities, and a link to Google Maps are all available as text, which is the accessible route to the same information.

The payment estimator uses range sliders. These are keyboard operable with the arrow keys and their values are announced, but if you find them difficult to use, the same conversation can be had by phone and we are happy to do that.

Some third-party content, if it is added to the site in future, may not be under our direct control. Where that happens we will note it here.

Tell us if something does not work

If you encounter a barrier on this site, please contact us and describe what you were trying to do, which page you were on, and what happened. Mentioning the browser and any assistive technology you were using helps us reproduce it, but do not worry if you do not know those details.

We will do our best to fix the problem and, in the meantime, to give you the information or complete the task another way.

If you need any accommodation to visit us, to see a vehicle, or to arrange service, call ahead and tell us what would help. We would much rather know in advance than have you arrive to a difficulty we could have prevented.
